One Night in Catalunya

Volanteus Commercial Jets - Barcelona Case Study

With the widely reported problems affecting our airports, it feels appropriate to share a story of how we mitigated these factors to provide our clients with a seamless operation…

At the end of May, the Volanteus team arrived en masse in Barcelona to support our passengers for one special night.

With several major charters taking place, meetings with all relevant airport stakeholders were held over the weekend to ensure everything was in place ahead of Sunday night’s operation.

As the chequered flag was raised at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya and the whistle blown on the final game of the season at Camp Nou, the Volanteus team were ready – stationed across the FBO, Terminal 1 and Terminal 2.

Team buses were greeted, tarmac access granted, boarding passes preprinted, bespoke catering delivered, and VIP lounges opened as weeks of meticulous planning came together.

By 02:00hrs a mixture of executive jets, narrow bodies and long-haul aircraft were all successfully dispatched thanks to the unwavering support of the FBO operators, ground handlers and our airline partners.

With one member of the team flying with the client on their marathon journey to Australia and the remainder retiring to the hotel for some well-deserved rest ahead of departures the following morning, our 24/7 Operations Team back at Volanteus HQ took over the reins. Guaranteeing round the clock support, our clients were kept aware of aircraft movements throughout the night.

Craig Grantham, Volanteus – Head of Commercial Jets comments,

“We get immense satisfaction from coordinating complex charter operations around the world. We are currently experiencing a different set of problems than we encountered during covid, from aircraft and crew availability, to the well documented airport resource issues. Our various departments work tirelessly to overcome these obstacles, ensuring our clients are unaffected by external circumstances as much as possible.”

In spite of the difficulties we’re all facing in aviation, the Volanteus team cannot wait until the next time we’re called upon to unpack our hi-vis jackets and work collaboratively with our suppliers and clients to achieve the common goal!

Our heartfelt thanks to Groundforce BCN, Iberia handling, Jet Netherlands, Air Nostrum, Vueling and of course Qantas, without whom none of this would have been possible!
