Volanteus’ Finance Director Michael Van Loock was invited back to his school, Imberhorne for a ‘Year 9 – Speed Networking Event’, where 25 people from various industries and roles were invited to the school to speak to the students about the job they do and the industry they work in.

The event was set up so that Michael would speak to 3-6 students at a time, they would have 3 mins to guess what Michael’s job was based on some props he showed them (calculator and 2 model aircrafts of a private jet and commercial jet), after the students guessed, Michael had 5 mins to talk about his role, how he got into it, what qualifications were needed etc. This would repeat over the next few hours.

Michael attended Imberhorne from 2004-2011 and comments, “ What was quite cool was that Imberhorne was the place where I first met my wife, so it brought back very fond memories. Even a handful of the teachers that used to teach me were still there and recognised me, so it was lovely to see them and update them with what I am doing these days.

Every student was so kind, polite and well behaved. It was great to see.”
